So I just reblogged gazavetter's pinned post and got a dm from a supposed person confirmed on the list. I checked their list and it's not the same link. It's just a copied version of it.

Also for someone who's desperate for help, does it make sense to dm someone? Would it not make more sense to make a post that could reach multiple people unlike a direct message?

So just another note for people to remember. Check links, make sure they match. Even if the pages seem similar, (like in this case, they just copied the campaign photo) you can check if they're the same by seeing the descriptions and how much has been donated. Check the organizers.

The person who dmed me gave their "name" and it wasn't mentioned on the real gofundme. It was mentioned on the fake version. For some reason they chose to go as the 12-year-old? Is the idea that younger people will get more sympathy? Or just less likely to be yelled at online? I don't know, but it feels weirder.

Actually as I take a closer look, there is similarities in names. Just the fake one has different last names. Wait, no the fake one doesn't have the right genders and familiy connections? Ugh, whatever, it just clearly doesn't match.

Oh they sent another message claiming their account was suspended and that they created another account for food. Suspended gofundmes don't allow donations if I'm correct. When I tell them that suspended gofundmes can't be donated to, they just say they can't withdraw. Are minors even able to set up and withdraw from fundraisers? They're also saying for some reason that it'll take ten days to withdraw money, which maybe that's the actual case, but this just feels fishy.

Sorry kiddo, but my pessimism is winning out here.
